Cyprus will join the Euro zone on January 1st, 2008
On the 10 July 2007 the EU Finance Ministers (ECOFIN) gave a vote of confidence to the Cyprus economy by giving the final go-ahead for Cyprus to adopt the euro. The exchange rate was fixed at one euro to £0.585274, approximately equivalent to 1.71 euro to one Cyprus pound.
The adoption of the euro will benefit local business in Cyprus and facilitate foreign investment and tourism.
